First day of class

Today was the first day for class in Salzburg and, like the other days, it was a lot of fun. We met up this morning at 9 and got our first food allowance money. Then we all got one-day passes for the bus and took the bus to our class buildings. We had a couple of short meetings and got the syllabus and our first assignments and then we were finished for the day. A few of us were late to our second class. The room that we were supposed to go in was occupied, so we waited at the top of the staircase for a little. Nobody ended up walking by, so we thought that we were in the wrong place. We went looking for the room, but it turns out that we were in the right place to begin and that everyone else used another staircase to go in and out of the room. I felt bad that we were late, but it was kind of funny that we managed to get lost when we were in the correct place to begin with.

After class, a small group of us rode the bus into the old part of Salzburg and ended up getting pizza for lunch. Before we decided to get pizza, we walked around the city for a little while. I didn't get to take too many pictures, but I plan on going back often so it isn't a big deal that I didn't take pictures. It's incredibly pretty in the old part of town and I have to be careful that I don't go there all of the time and spend all of my money.

We came home from lunch and then we bought one-month passes for the bus. After that we had to go to the supermarket for a homework project. We had to find the prices of various items and answer some questions about the supermarket. It's hard to believe how different the supermarkets here are from the ones at home. The people that work in the supermarket and the people that shop there move really fast. When you get to the checkout you need to use your own bags or buy some from the shop and the person working the checkout scans items and gives you your change in almost no time at all. There are only a few checkout lanes, not like at home where there are a bunch that you can choose from. Also, when you want to use a cart you have to put a deposit down (1 Euro) in order to make sure that you bring the cart back.

We finished up our project and then ended up hanging out at Europa Kolleg for the rest of the day. Nothing too exciting happened while we were here. Now I'm just in my room watching Comedy Central (in German of course) and getting ready to go to bed.

That's all I have for now. I'm sure I'll have more stories to put on here soon.

((I posted a few pictures in one of the other posts...Ein paar Fotos...I think. Make sure that you click the link in that post to see the pictures that I have so far))
